Shaking out the cobwebs

In fitting with the shifting of the seasons, it seems a good a time as any for a company to reassess its working processes. Some are constantly spring cleaning however, and none are better adverts for the benefits of the continuous improvement regime than DACO Inc.

President Bruce Lindgren makes it abundantly clear that it’s more than a case of keeping his business trim. When a man of his experience says that “the reason we’re still here is that we’ve done an awful lot with Six Sigma,” it rams the point home that in a challenging market, techniques like this represent the best chance of survival for many.

Although familiarity can breed contempt – or at worst, that very antithesis of continuous improvement, complacency – it’s worth remembering that no matter what is going on in the world at large, both the problems and solutions are very often right on your own doorstep. Sometimes, it can take a superhuman effort to address this, but after all, no one is in this industry for an easy ride.
