Oil & Gas UK, the leading representative organisation for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, will be hosting a breakfast briefing in London on September 20.

The briefing is entitled “Building a Successful North Sea Business”.

The UK oil and gas industry has succeeded in attracting a diverse range of innovative companies that have recognised the huge potential that still remains on the UK continental shelf (UKCS).

Over the last eight years, over thirty new entrants have taken a new approach and used different business models to meet the challenges presented by a maturing oil and gas basin.

These companies have achieved astounding growth and already account for almost 40 percent of annual industry investment and 16 percent of production.

So having recognised the potential of the UKCS, what does it take for a new entrant to achieve the position of a leading oil and gas operator?

Speakers at the Oil & Gas UK breakfast briefing will include Mike Wagstaff, Chief Executive, Venture Production and Steve Mills, Senior Director, The Royal Bank of Scotland Oil & Gas Team.

They will explore these themes from an independent operator and financier's perspective. Ed Crooks, Energy Editor, Financial Times will join the speakers to give his views during an interactive panel discussion with attendees.
