The proposed deal is intended to combine Big Blue’s business processes with ILOG’s software to help with clients’ business optimisation.

The offer from IBM stands at €10 per share, which equates to an aggregate purchase price of €215 million.

ILOG’s board of directors has approved the offer from IBM, and the merger will be formally announced after approval by a regulatory committee.

Once completed, the acquisition will improve IBM’s business process management (BPM) and service oriented architecture (SOA) by providing customers with a fully optimised set of rule management tools.

“Companies across all industries are looking for technologies to help them manage their processes with more flexibility so they can keep up with changing business conditions,” said Tom Rosamilia, IBM WebSphere general manager.
