UK executives are increasingly looking overseas to further their careers, a study has found.
The European recruitment website Experteer conducted a study of 13,269 executives in 2007/08.
Switzerland emerged as a key attraction for the continent's premier business brains with a net inflow of 42 percent.
Germany and France suffered more from the brain drain than the UK, with a deficit of 10 percent and nine percent respectively.
But the greatest exodus was from Central and Eastern Europe, which experienced a net 18 percent outflow of talent - higher than any other region in Europe.
The UK proved an attractive destination among the highest-paid - but incoming talent was disproportionately restricted to the capital, with 57 percent of inbound executives choosing London.
Two thirds of candidates taking up postings outside their country of origin were from European countries.
Across Europe, around 13 percent of candidates took up roles outside of their home country. Executives from finance, professional services and IT sectors were the most likely to relocate.
