EDF's Cuttill out following four accidental deaths

Paul Cuttill, the head of EDF Energy's Networks branch, has left his post with immediate effect. This follows the deaths of four EDF engineering workers since the beginning of 2007.

Chief Operating Officer Paul Cuttill (pictured), 47, who has worked in the electricity industry for over three decades, is among those responsible for implementing the French energy provider’s Zero Harm policy. However, Cuthill’s departure comes in the aftermath of the deaths of three EDF Energy engineering workers in separate incidents since the beginning of 2007.
Cuttill will be replaced by Laurent Ferrari , who will be responsible for managing EDF Energy’s electricity distribution networks covering London, the South East and East of England.
Most recently, he was Director of Resources and Transformation in the EDF Optimisation and Trading Division in France.
EDF Energy Chief Executive Vincent de Rivaz commented: “I would like to thank Paul for the very significant contribution he has made to EDF Energy. Paul’s loyalty, commitment and professionalism have been of the highest standard throughout his career.”

EDF Energy Networks employs around 3,700 people, and is worth approximately £2.9 billion. It distributes electricity to 7.8 million connected customers. It is the largest electricity distribution network operator in the UK.
In the 2005 New Year Honours list, Paul Cuttill received an OBE for services to the energy industry.
