Burberry posts strong growth amid crunch

Burberry Group plc has reported that comparable store sales grew 4.5 percent in the US, Europe and Asia, despite the current trading environment.

In the three months to June 30, total revenue at Burberry increased 22 percent.

The luxury company saw strong performances in outerwear and non-apparel causing retail revenue to increase 14 percent.

CEO Angela Ahrendts was pleased with Burberry’s start to the year. “Our brand momentum is strong, driven by product innovation and a focused management team,” she said.

Spain has proved a continued weak spot for the fashion retailer, although the brand had been strong.

Burberry now has 97 stores globally, with 245 concessions, 41 outlets and 80 franchisees.
