Software company Autonomy Corporation plc has announced record second quarter profits, driven by strong organic revenue growth.

Autonomy said its lack of consumer exposure meant it was experiencing little impact from the tough economic climate, despite being “conservative” in its forecasts.

Revenues were up 72 percent to US$126 million, while adjusted pre-tax profit was up more than 80 percent to US$50.8 million, well ahead of consensus estimates.

"Our performance during this period has been driven by strong organic growth across all areas of our business," chief executive Dr Michael Lynch said in a statement.

Autonomy’s 17,000 customers include eBay, Toyota, Fox Media Group, and several international defence and intelligence agencies.

The company has joint headquarters in Cambridge, UK, and San Francisco, USA.
