Anheuser-Busch has agreed to sell itself to InBev for US$52 billion in an ‘industry-transforming’ deal.

The transaction will create one of the world’s largest consumer products companies and is expected to yield cost synergies of about US$1.5 billion annually by 2011.

Shareholders of Anheuser-Busch will receive US$70 per share in cash following the deal.

The combined company will be named Anheuser-Busch InBev and will generate 40 percent of its revenues in the US.

The headquarters for the North American region and the global home of the Budweiser brand will be in St. Louis, Missouri.

Carlos Brito has been confirmed CEO of the combined company.

The deal follows months of discussions between the brewers and several offers from InBev.
